November 2009 - Infra Red

I've spent most of November working with the new Cineflex V14MSII system, concentrating on the unique Infra Red capabilities of this incredible camera. It has an amazing feature called video fusion...which is where you can blend an infra red image over the top of a normal optical image (the MSII has two lenses). The potential for fighting fires and search and rescue is phenomenal...
...check out some of the pictures below. For example, if someone is lost at sea they will stand out like a sore thumb when the infra red image is blended into the picture. There is even greater potential for mapping fire fronts. It's amazing what this machine can do, even when attached to a fixed wing airframe. Mindblowing. Hopefully we can help save some people and property this year with the bushfires that are sure to come.
Searching for a lost hiker in the forest - optical lens only.

Same situation, using an IR image blended over an optical image.
